MIKE JACKSON


  

Mike Jackson is an Emmy-nominated editor and award-winning director. His editing on the CBS / History Channel documentary Beyond Top

Secret was nominated for the 2006 News and Documentary  Emmys. His 2007 comedy short The Bar was nominated for two LEO awards (for costumes and visual effects), as well as winning the Hot Shot Shorts competition and Best Comedy at the 2008 Sea to Sky Film Festival. Other award-winning shorts and music videos he has directed include 20 Minutes of Oxygen by The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets (nominated for a Golden Sheaf award, 2011 Yorkton Film festival), Dial ‘A’ for Alphaman (No.1 sci-fi short on iFilm, April 2005), Third Eye Tribe’s Real Mathematics (semi-finalist, Action/Cut short film competition), the musical Frequency Zero (CBC Zed People’s Choice Award and Best Ensemble Performance, 2002 Reel-Fast 48-Hour Film Competition), and Hell's Habit, which swept the awards at the 2006 Vancouver Bloodshots 48-Hour Horror Filmmaking Challenge (Best Picture, Best Acting, Best Editing and Best Costumes).

Other notable films include The Legend of Bonefish webseries, The Veil and Hooped. Other notable projects he has edited include the comedy feature The Beast of Bottomless Lake, Eco-Pirate: The Story of Paul Watson, Ayaa: A Hero's Journey, the Bravo dance videos Methuseleh and Distemper, Food Network’s Glutton for Punishment, and HDNet’s Dan Rather Reports: Greenscare. Mike and co-writer Sam Dulmage also won Second Place Horror Screenplay in the 2006 Phoenix Film Festival's International Horror Sci-Fi Screenplay Competition for their script Hell to Pay. He  began in the industry as a storyboard artist for MTV’s Aeon Flux, and continued his work in animated television as a production designer on ReBoot.

 

SAMUEL DULMAGE


Sam Dulmage is a writer, actor, and filmmaker. His produced writing credits include eleven short films, a six-episode sitcom, two plays, a video game, and countless hours of sketch comedy. His DOP credits include The Veil, Dial "A" For Alphaman, Jean-Denis Rouette’s Rain, and

Meghan Ciana’s Josephine. Before joining Steam Powered Films, he wrote and performed sketch comedy with the Vancouver sketch comedy troupe "The Legend of Bonefish". He has performed in independent film, radio, and stage, including Brutus in Julius Caesar, and his singing voice can be heard in the double-award-winning, made-in-48-hours musical, Frequency Zero. His solo show, The Broken Gospel of Edward Gray, won the Audience Choice award at the Here Be Monsters Show Off Festival. He has twice won Honourable Mention in the New Play Centre 24-Hour Playwriting Competition. His first feature screenplay, The Electric Gumshoe, was optioned; his second, Hell To Pay (with Mike Jackson) won Second Place Horror Screenplay at the Phoenix Film Festival's International Horror Sci Fi Screenplay Competition. He is one half of the comedy duo "Long Hard Comedy Rocket" and photographs jewellery and architecture at T.J. Adel & Son Photographics.

PETER NEW


Peter New is a Leo Award winning writer for his work on Comedy Network’s Point Blank, with CullenRobertson Productions. He honed his craft with underground sketch comedy sensation “The Legend of Bonefish,” and continues to refine it with equally underground sensations “Long Hard Comedy

Rocket,” and “Blackout Broadcast,” both of which also call on his talents as a performer. He has written several one act plays, a musical (including the music and lyrics), co-created a six episode independent TV Series and co-written some short films including Frequency Zero (winner of both the best ensemble and CBC Zed Peoples’ Choice awards at the 2002 Reel Fast 48hr film festival). As an actor he has been seen in numerous TV shows including Supernatural, Robson Arms, Alice I Think, Dead Like Me, Kingdom Hospital, Out of Order, DaVinci’s Inquest, Special Unit 2, Point Blank, Beyond Belief, Dark Angel, Level 9, Cold Squad, and Seven Days. His movies include Black Christmas, The Tooth Fairy, Scooby Doo 2, A Guy Thing, Agent Cody Banks, The Truth About Miranda, The Delicate Art of Parking, Greenmail, AntiTrust, and for Steam Powered Films: Hell's Habit, Tidepool, Dial ‘A’ For Alphaman, Bad Roommate, Frequency Zero, and A Fishfull of Dollars, for which he received an honorable mention as best actor. He also does commercials and numerous voices for cartoons.

PALLE HOFFSTEIN


Palle Hoffstein is a film-maker and video game designer. His first foray into film was as a special effects PA for the B-movie classic Flesh Gordon Meets The Cosmic Cheerleaders. He studied Directing, Assistant Director, Editing, Writing, Lighting and Film Production at Vancouver Film School. With Steam Powered Films he has worked on various shorts films and music videos as Assistant Director and 2nd Unit Director. He co-wrote The Souvenir, a top-10 finalist in the 2003 Real Fast competition and, most recently, he directed and co-wrote Eleanor Heaven Starring In Fast Food, an Unofficial Selection of the 9th Annual Sea to Sky Film Festival.

T.G. SHEPHERD


T.G. Shepherd has worked on Steam Powered Films sets in almost every practical and / or thankless role: producer, production manager, assistant director, locations manager, PA, props, food stylist, set dec, grip, transport - you name it, she's hauled it, taped it or guarded it. Her professional credits (as a Production Assistant and Assistant Director) include: Jeremiah, Cats and Dogs, See Spot Run, Romeo Must Die, Trixie, Atomic Train, Runaway Virus and in a personal coup, all of Chris Carter's Vancouver productions (X-Files, Millennium, Harsh Realm and The Lone Gunmen). She has appeared in an X-Files CD-ROM. What little free time she has is spent at martial arts and begging her dog to forgive her for being away from him. She still likes sappy music.
