Mike has directed a large number of award-winning music videos and shorts, with a quirky style and generous doses of dark humor.
Most recently, Mike directed WoodMan, a winner of the Crazy8s short film competition, which is currently doing its festival run. His comedy short The Bar starred Peter DeLuise, and was nominated for two LEO awards (costumes and visual effects), as well as winning the very first Hot Shot Shorts competition, and Best Comedy at the Sea to Sky Film Festival. His music video 20 Minutes of Oxygen for The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets was nominated for a Golden Sheaf award at the Yorkton Film festival.
His other award winning films include Dial ‘A’ for Alphaman (No.1 sci-fi short on iFilm, April 2005), Third Eye Tribe’s Real Mathematics (semi-finalist, Action/Cut short film competition), the musical Frequency Zero (CBC Zed People’s Choice Award and Best Ensemble Performance, Reel-Fast 48-Hour Film Competition), and Hell's Habit, which swept the awards at the Vancouver Bloodshots 48-Hour Horror Filmmaking Challenge (Best Picture, Best Acting, Best Editing and Best Costumes). Other notable projects Mike has directed include The Legend of Bonefish webseries, The Veil and Hooped, and the music video When DD Gets Her Donkey, Everything Will be Alright, by Klezmer / folk legend Geoff Berner.
